Eating in Majorca

Keeping with Spanish customs, locals sit down to for dinner around 10 pm. Catering to the many international visitors, some restaurants open earlier or stay open all day but it is best to check the hours before because they usually close after lunch and don’t open for dinner until 8 pm. In peak season, it is best to have reservations if you want to dine at at particular spot.

There are many different styles of restaurants in Majorca, from tapas bars to seafood, traditional cellars to pizzerias. A 3-course meal should cost, on average, £12, and wine and beer are relatively cheap as well, with a house bottle around £7.50. Typical Majorcan dishes use a lot of fish, pork and island grown produce, flavored with tomatoes, garlic and herbs. Resorts have many supermarkets for those looking to cook their own food, and many may offer UK brands but at an inflated price.
